1.What attracted you to a career in accounting?

After completing my university degree, I felt that a career in accounting would make most use of my new qualifications.  A family friend recommended Benson Accountants, as he knew Paul and said he had a real drive to improve the business.  When I met the team, I instantly felt like it was somewhere I would settle in great.

2. What's your favourite part of your career so far?

My favourite part has been seeing myself progress. It gives me a great sense of achievement to complete a task that I couldn’t do several months before. Also, the office days out are always fun!

3. What was your background before joining Benson Accountants?

I joined Benson Accountants straight from graduating from Lancaster University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and Statistics.

4. What advice would you give to someone considering a post-graduate/student programme in accountancy?

I would say don’t be put off if you have no prior experience with accounting, as the start of your training will cover all the basics.  There are quite a few exams that you need to sit throughout your training, so be aware that it is a large commitment.

5. What are your career goals within accounting?

I want to finish my training and become a Chartered Accountant,and then move on to improving my knowledge of accounting software.

6. What is a fun fact about you that people may not know?

When I younger my hair used to be straighter and blonde!
